FOOTNOTE

Harry Jenkins was born in Birmingham in 1898 and attested for the King's Royal Rifle Corps in Winchester on 30 August 1914. He served with the 13th Battalion during the Great War on the Western Front from 30 July 1915, and received a gun shot wound to the head on 12 April 1917. He transferred to the 21st (Yeoman Rifles) Battalion on 13 August 1917, and was killed in action on 20 September 1917, the First Day of the Battle of Menin Road, part of the Third Battle of Ypres. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Belgium.
