Military Cross GVR, unnamed as issued, BWM named (Lieut. T.E. Dickinson) WW2 Defence & War Medals. MC L/G 2 April 1919, citation L/G 10/12/1919 (T./Lt. Thomas Edward Dickinson, R. Fus., attd. 1/7th Bn. W. York. R.) ‘For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the attack near Avesnes-sur-See on 11th October 1918, and following days. As battalion intelligence officer, he many times went forward, in full view of the enemy, over an area swept by accurate machine-gun fire, and barraged by hostile artillery, and obtained very valuable information. During the enemy counterattack, he repeatedly went up and down the line, in spite of heavy fire, collecting stragglers and organising them into fighting units, whom he led forward again. His very courageous behavior was a splendid example to all ranks. Lived Hastings. Unique name on the WW1 medal rolls. Ex DNW Sept 2003
